How To Stop Automatic Driver Updates in Windows 10 via Group Policy

With default settings, Windows 10 automatically downloads and installs device drivers as well as device driver updates. This feature is really helpful for newbie but also annoying for advanced user. For instance, sometimes the latest version of a driver can break your Windows OS. This guide will show you how to stop Windows 10 from Automatically Updating Drivers via Group Policy.

FYI, Group Policy is not part of Windows 10 Home edition, so this guide will only work for Windows 10 Pro or Windows 10 Enterprise. For Windows 10 Home Edition you can block driver updates via Registry.

1. In the Start/taskbar search field, type Group Policy and then hitting the Enter key or You can also open the same by typing Gpedit.msc in Run command box.

2. In the Group Policy window, go to Computer configuration > Administrative templates > Windows components > Windows Update.

3. Look for Do not include drivers with Windows Update policy. Double-click on the policy to open its properties.

4. Finally, select the Enabled option. Click the Apply button and click the OK.

Now Windows 10 will not include any update drivers for the next Windows Updates. If you want to update your drivers you can do it manually.
